Several informations about gymnazium


Position
Vodňany is situated in South Bohemia near Strakonice. Vodňany is a small town and it has nearly seven thousand people. The grammar school was founded in 1992. Our school is situated in a quiet part of the town Vodňany
History
At the beginning there were only three classes. The first headmaster was Mr. Eduard Kubelka and in 1994 Mr. Zdeněk Pouch became the second headmaster. In 1998 Mr. Pouch left for Strakonice and Mrs. Věra Scherlingová won the competition for the headmaster of our grammar school.
Activities
At our school students learn English and German and they have chance to go to various seminars Grammar school in Vodňany provides a possibility of exchange stays with Swiss students from Aarwangen. Within the exchange stay some foreign students attended our school. Annual courses of cycling, canoeing, hiking and skiing are held. At our school the team of the debate league was founded in January 1997 and the members of the league have also been very successful(On 22nd March 1997 our team visited Karlovy Vary.). The first students‘ celebration of „Majáles“ took place in 1995 and it has been held every year. All high schools from Vodňany participate in that celebration. In the course of the school year a lot of interesting excursions, competitions and trips are realized. Our students can also improve their knowledge in the class of informatics. There is a special computer-room and there is also a computer in each ordinary classroom. Since the last school year INTERNET is available and students frequently use it. Now the students can make "european computer driving licence" ECDL(http://www.ecdl.cz).
ECDL
28th of December 2001 the school have became the acreditation for ECDL tests (European Computer Driving Licence). Now the students of our school and other students can become this licence in our school. You need these knowledges: 1) information technics basics (hardware,...), 2) working with computer and administration of files (copying, deleting...), 3) text editor (MS Word,...), 4) table calculator (MS Excel,...), 5) databases/systems for saving data (MS Access,...), 6) prezentation (MS Powerpoint,..), 7) information networks (Internet...).
